FARMVILLE — Police are investigating a robbery that saw a business owner beaten last Thursday evening, November 13.
There have been no arrests and the Farmville Police Department is asking for anyone with information to contact the department.
According to police, the owner of Mickey 7, in the 300 block of N. South Street, reported that three males approached him in the parking lot at closing time and displayed a handgun. Police received the call about the robbery at 7:29 p.m.
“The victim was then severely assaulted by the assailants,” a Tuesday afternoon press release authorized by Chief Doug Mooney states, and robbed.
The assailants fled the scene, running northwards towards Depot Street and were seen crossing Main Street near High Bridge Trail when a white Ford pick-up truck “narrowly avoided hitting them,” the press release states.
Police say they are looking for the driver of the pick-up truck to see if he or she “can add any details.”
Additionally, the police department is asking that anyone in the area of the crime who saw something suspicious, or who might have any helpful information, contact Detective Sergeant Chris Moss at 434-392-2109.
Items were taken from the victim, who police say was transported to Centra Southside Community Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
