Farmville Library To Take Ice Bucket Challenge
Published 2:36 pm Thursday, September 4, 2014
Library Staff members of the Farmville-Prince Edward Community Library will take the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge on Friday, September 5, after the library closes at 5 p.m. The Ice Bucket Challenge has helped raise millions of dollars for the ALS Association to fund its present research, care services, and public policy while also considering new projects to move the needle on finding treatments and a cure for the disease.
Nationally, the Ice Bucket Challenge has helped raise over $88 million in donations via a “challenge” to others to pour a bucket of ice water over one’s head. Staff members of the library will make no such challenge. Instead, they invite community leaders, townspeople, and residents to make a donation to help fight this disease and fund research for its cure.
Persons wishing to donate can do so by visiting the ALS Association’s website at www.als.org and hitting the donate button.
