Happy birthday wishes go out this week to Linda Sue Lipscomb, of Cumberland, celebrating on Friday, August 29, Clarence Walters of Powhatan, and John Wood Jr., age 88, of Farmville, celebrating on Sunday, August 31, Shawn Gough, of Winginia, celebrating on Monday, September 1, and Michael Boyles, of Cumberland, and Dorothy Micklen, of Buckingham celebrating on Wednesday, September 3.
A special happy anniversary wish goes out this week to Alan and Tammy Gough, of Winginia, celebrating on Wednesday, September 3.
Elizabeth Stone, of Dillwyn, visited over the weekend with her daughter, Linda Seay, in Richmond.
Sympathy is extended to the Martin family of Richmond. Lee Martin, 90, of Richmond, passed away last week. He will be greatly missed by all.
Barry and Linda Miles, of Cumberland, along with Jane Cooke, of Brookneal, shared a meal at a Charlottesville restaurant on Wednesday, August 21.

Susie Taylor, of Dillwyn, and Patricia Woodfin, of New Canton, along with Barry and Linda Miles enjoyed an afternoon lunch at a Dillwyn restaurant on Sunday, August 24.

Spreading God’s Gifts Incorporation of Buckingham is a non-profit local organization that extends help to individuals and families in their hour of need. All are invited to come and learn how to help by attending the organizations regular monthly meeting held on Tuesday evening, September 2 at 6:30 p.m. in the conference room of Buckingham County Public Library. Spreading God’s Gifts, Inc. will have a dinner and auction on Saturday evening, September 6 at the VFW Hall on U.S. Route 60 in Buckingham. Dinner will be served from 4:30-6 p.m. and include hotdogs, hamburgers, baked beans, potato salad, dessert and beverage for a donation. At 6 p.m. there will be an auction of new items. Bill Talbert, of Buckingham, will be the auctioneer. Funds resulting from this event will help individuals and families in the hour of need. Jammin’ on the James is sponsoring summer concert series at Dorrier Park in partnership with the Town of Scottsville, Scottsville Chamber of Commerce, and Scottsville for the Center of Arts In Nature, the fourth concert in the series will be held on Sunday, September 7 from 5-8 p.m. featuring country music star Ashley McMillen of Morgan Town, West Virginia. The Buckingham County Christian Fellowship Association will hold their regular monthly meeting on Monday, September 8 at 5 p.m. at Merk’s Place in Farmville.
