A special happy birthday wish goes out this week to Bea England, of Dillwyn, celebrating on Saturday, August 23.

A large crowd attended the third birthday party of Cece Waycaster, the daughter of Tommy Joe (T.J.) and Stephanie Waycaster of Dillwyn, of Saturday, August 16.

Barry Miles and Mae Rutherford, both of Cumberland, Jane Cooke, of Brookneal, and Tom Snead and daughters Karen Agnew and Cheryl Miles, all of Richmond, enjoyed a day of Southern Gospel music at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Midlothian on Saturday, August 16. Following this they are all joined the Singing Policeman, Danny Figgins and his lovely wife, Arlene, of Front Royal in Richmond for an evening of great food, fun and fellowship. Miles said Figgins had such an impact on the crowd with his music and testimony that it was almost impossible to get near his booth.

In honor of Barry Miles 51st birthday, Monday, August 18, his wife Linda, Susie Taylor, of Dillwyn, and Patricia Woodfin, of New Canton, all enjoyed great food, fun and fellowship at a Farmville restaurant.

Union Branch Baptist Church, located on Bridgeport Road in Arvonia, will host their food distribution on Saturday, August 23, from 9-11 a.m. Recipients must be a Buckingham County resident. The first annual Fluvanna County Fair Down on the Farm will be held August 21-23. The fair will be open Thursday and Friday from 4-9 p.m. and on Saturday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. There will be food vendors, fun zone, 4-H horse show, home arts contest, forestry field days, talent show, music and lots more including helicopter rides all day Saturday. There is no admission charge.
