Holliday Lake Offers Meteor Shower Events
Published 4:31 pm Tuesday, July 22, 2014
On Monday, July 28, the Southern Delta Aquarids Meteor Shower will appear in the night sky and on Tuesday, August 12, the Perseids Meteor shower will appear. Join the park naturalists on the beach at 9 p.m. on these dates as we watch broken pieces of comets blaze across the brilliant night sky through scopes and binoculars. Park naturalists will discuss why these meteors appear every year and what they have meant to human kind throughout history. Evenings will get cool and dark, so a jacket and flashlight are recommended.
Although equipment is available for spotting meteors, it is recommended that you bring your own pair of binoculars. For program questions and information requests please call the park office at 434-248-6308 or by emailing hollidaylake@dcr.virginia.gov.
