The Rev. Bob and Jean Hayden, of Farmville, celebrated their 60th wedding Anniversary June 26. They were college classmates in Canada, Bob from Maine, Jean from Toronto, Canada, where they were married. Bob served churches in Maine, Kansas City, MO, Nashville, TN, and Charlotte, NC. In 1972, not renouncing his ministry, Bob went back to University in Georgia, earned his PhD and taught in Georgia and Virginia, coming to Farmville in 1987 to teach at Longwood. He retired from Longwood in 1997 and served as supply priest or interim rector in churches in the dioceses of Virginia, retiring in 2007. “Having lived in Farmville longer than any where else in the country, we are happy to spend our retirement in Farmville, which we have grown to love,” the Haydens commented. The couple have two children and three grandchildren.
