MEHERRIN, April 22 — Richard Samuel Crews, 79, of Meherrin, passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2014.

He is survived by three daughters, Tammy Skipwith and her husband, Craige, Dawn Bowman and her husband, Henry, and Margaret Showalter and her husband, Steve; a son, Tony Crews; in addition to his children, he fathered a host of foster children; a brother, Eddie Crews; and three grandchildren, Amanda Dalton, Richard Skipwith, and Abigail Crews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia B. Crews.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 23 in the Meherrin Fire Department with interment to follow in the Meherrin Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 22 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Contributions may be made to the Meherrin Methodist Church or the Meherrin Volunteer Fire Department.

The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home, Keysville, is in charge of the arrangements.
