FARMVILLE — The Prince Edward County High School boys varsity soccer team was on a roll as they blew past the Central Lunenburg Chargers, 6-1, on Monday, March 24.

“We are beginning to figure out how to play with one another,” commented PECHS boys varsity soccer coach Devin Pierce.

Prince Edward set the pace with two goals early in the first half. The Eagles then went on to score five more goals during the rest of the game, while Central Lunenburg could only produce a single goal.

Pierce went on to say, “The players in the center of our formation have established themselves as key members on this team and in this district. Seniors A.J. Stringfellow, Liam Burke, and John Copeland have led the defense that has only allowed one goal in the past three games.”

Kyle Burns was responsible for four goals during the game, while Colton Sheehan and Niko Reinson scored a goal each.

“The 'triangle' in the center midfield is composed of junior Ricky Solorio and sophomores, Niko Reison and Colton Sheehan. The trio has taken the responsibility of being the composed heartbeat of the team and has lent a hand in almost every goal scored this season. Senior work horse, Kyle Burns, is on track to break the high school's (PECHS) scoring record, with 11 goals already in three games,” added Pierce.

The Prince Edward Eagles boys varsity soccer team will return to action on Wednesday, March 26 when they host the Randolph-Henry Statesmen at 5 p.m.

They will travel to Cumberland High School on Thursday, March 27 for a 6:30 p.m. game against the Dukes.

“Overall, the team has gotten off to a brilliant start. However, we haven't come anywhere close to playing to our fullest potential,” Pierce remarked.
