Elizabeth R. “Lib” Thompson, 85

HOPEWELL, March 18 — Elizabeth R. “Lib” Thompson, 85, of Hopewell was called back home by her Heavenly Father on Sunday, March 16, 2014. She was the daughter of the late Clarence D. Weaver Sr. and Elma Southerland Weaver. She was a member of the Colonial Heights Church of the Nazarene, retired from Chesterfield County, a volunteer at John Randolph Medical Center, and the Disabled American Veterans.

Mrs. Thompson leaves to cherish her memory her husband, James E. “Big Jim” Thompson; a daughter, Diane Rogers of Richmond; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Mark R. Rogers of Richmond, Scott D. Rogers and Nathalie Rogers of Fayetteville, North Carolina; stepdaughters and son-in-law, Carol Diane Thompson of Chesterfield, Marsha L. Overholser of Blackstone, Kathy S. Koch of West Virginia, and Judy C. and John Grant of Colonial Heights; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, C.D. Jr. and Myra Weaver of Texas; a sister, Kathleen Volk of Prince George; and four nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason R. Shively and a brother-in-law, Robert Volk.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 20 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, with the Reverend Mike Lamphire officiating. Burial will follow in Bermuda Memorial Park, Enon.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
