A group of intrepid canoers, led by AmeriCorps member Melissa Meinhard, toured Bear Creek Lake State Park Saturday morning, August 17. Attendees not only honed their steering skills, but also explored the unique wetlands of the lake and learned the history of its construction during the New Deal era. Canoe tours of the lake will be offered every Saturday through September. To register call the park at (804) 492-4410.
