Southside SPCA Seeks Volunteers

Published 3:55 pm Tuesday, August 20, 2013

The Southside SPCA, Meherrin, is a donor-supported, tax-exempt, 502(c)(3) organization that has provided shelter, medical treatment, spay/neuter, and adoption services to over 36,000 puppies, kittens, cats, and dogs since the organization’s inception in 1975. They are a no-kill shelter operating almost entirely with volunteers serving 12 largely rural, economically depressed counties in Southside Virginia: Amelia, Brunswick, Buckingham, Charlotte, Cumberland, Dinwiddie, Halifax, Lunenburg, Mecklenburg, Nottoway, Appomattox, and Prince Edward.

To volunteer with fundraising activates contact Steve Smelcer, smelcer@centurylink.net, SPCA Fundraiser Coordinator. In addition, the SPCA is in need of a volunteer part-time handy-person to assist with the building maintenance. If interested in helping out, contact Jim Snow, snowjrs313@verizon.net.
