The Appomattox All-Stars, representing the Commonwealth as the Virginia All-Stars advanced to the Final Four round of the Dixie Softball Angels Traditional World Series, over the weekend before being eliminated Tuesday evening in Petal, Mississippi.

While they didn't take home the big trophy, the Angels impressed tournament officials, as Virginia was awarded the Sportsmanship Award at the conclusion of the tournament.

Virginia defeated Magee, Mississippi 8-5 in the tournament's opener on Friday, before dropping a 1-0 loss to Slocomb, Alabama in the second round on Sunday in seven innings.

Virginia bounced back later on Sunday with a 9-2 victory over Lafayette County, Arkansas and moved into the Final Four round with a 2-1 victory over Baldwin County, Georgia.

The Virginia All-Stars' run came to an end on Tuesday in a 5-2 loss to Alabama.

Alabama lost in the Championship Game, 2-0, to Hanahan, South Carolina.
