BUCKINGHAM – Following a closed session, the school board appointed Frank Knott to fill the District 4, Maysville Precinct vacancy created when Pete Gowin resigned in May so that his daughter could accept a position with Buckingham County Public Schools.
After a 34-year career with the Virginia State Police, Knott served as an adjunct instructor for SVCC teaching criminal justice at the Buckingham CTE Center from 2003 to 2009; and, most recently for Longwood University teaching introduction to criminal justice.
Commenting on his appointment, Knott shared, “I have been and will continue to be a strong advocate for all Buckingham students and their families.” He added, “I hope I can help continue and foster the harmonious working relationship we've seen between the school board and the board of supervisors over the last several years.”
He will represent District 4 on the school board until the special election on November 5.
