Jody Rea Paup Hogan, 47

MEHERRIN, July 23 — Jody Rea Paup Hogan, 47, of Meherrin, died Saturday, July 20, 2013. She was born August 18, 1965 in Kane, PA, the daughter of Thora (Lynne) and James (Jim) Paup.

Mrs. Hogan was a 1987 graduate of Longwood College with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church and worked at Southside Community Hospital for many years before pursuing a career in teaching. She was a teacher at Prince Edward County Middle School, Fuqua, Nottoway and most recently, Lunenburg County High School. Mrs. Hogan enjoyed riding and being a member of the Cruiser Bike Club and being a Thirty-one Consultant. She was proud of her involvement with the youth programs; PEFYA, Lunenburg and Virginia Select leagues.

She was a loving wife to John Hood Hogan and devoted mother of three wonderful children, Brandy, Michael, and Aaron Hogan. She is survived by her parents, Lynne and Jim Paup of Florida; four sisters, Polly Park and husband, John, Jamie Huntsman, and Kelly and husband, Paul, all of Tennessee, and Sherry Shappard and husband, Randy of Florida, along with many nieces and nephews and one great-niece. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Thora and Edward Lehman and Harry and Ruth Paup.

A private service was held Monday, July 22 at the Farmville United Methodist Church with the Reverend Paul Baker officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Prince Edward Farmville Youth Association or Prince Edward Volunteer Rescue Squad.
