June 27 – Happy Birthday wishes go out to Dale Midkiff and Frances Smith, both of Dillwyn, and Josephine Newcomb, of Farmville, celebrating on Friday, June 28, Mary Dunkum, of Dillwyn, celebrating on Monday, July 1, Fern Dunnavant and Mamie Cheseledine, both of Dillwyn, celebrating on Tuesday, July 2, and Agnes Ogle, of Cumberland, celebrating on Thursday, July 4.

James and Virginia Boyles, of Cumberland, along with Elizabeth Stone, of Dillwyn, spent Sunday, June 23 visiting relatives in Amelia.

Pete and Annie May Miles, of Dillwyn, visited in the home of James and Virginia Boyles in Cumberland on Monday, June 24.

A nice crowd attended a birthday supper on Thursday, June 20 at a Dillwyn Restaurant in honor of Pete Miles' eighty-fist birthday given by his son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Linda Miles of Cumberland. Everyone enjoyed great food, fun and fellowship.

Dot Brown, of Richmond, is spending a few days with her sister, Ann Carter, in Dillwyn this week.

Note: July 4th is Thursday. This day is set aside to honor those men and women who are still fighting for our freedom and remember those who have fought and gone before us.

Remember: During this extreme heat to check on the elderly and your pets. Also, consider doing outdoor chores in the early morning or late evening. These reminders will hopefully prevent any health issues.
