PRINCE EDWARD – The County's School Board met in their fiscal year-end meeting Wednesday evening and, following a closed session, approved personnel moves that include the hiring of new high school principal, Zoltan Kerestely.
Kerestely will be a familiar face at the school; he has served as the school's assistant principal this past year.
“We're pleased to make the announcement,” Division Superintendent Dr. David Smith commented after the meeting. “…Mr. Kerestely is a strong instructional leader, he is active in supporting students and teachers in all pursuits. We're excited about the leadership that he'll provide and we're happy to have him in this new role.”
Kerestely holds a Master of Educational Leadership degree from the University of Mary Washington and a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology-Premed.
He previously served as a teacher, principal intern and biomedical STAT Department head for Stafford County Public Schools' North Stafford High School.
It was previously announced that the former principal Craig Reed would take a middle school principal's position in Norfolk.
Kerestely's move to the principal's chair will leave a vacant assistant principal's position. Dr. Smith noted they could possibly have an announcement in the coming week. The school board is scheduled to hold their regular monthly meeting July 5.
