'Bird Is The Word' At High Bridge

Published 2:17 pm Tuesday, June 18, 2013

Bird and nature lovers are invited to attend a free avian adventure at High Bridge Trail State Park. Meet at the River Road parking lot on Saturday, June 22, at 9 a.m. to start the tour with Mike Stinson, a local professor of Life Sciences, to look for birds and learn how to identify them by their calls.

This program will last about an hour and will cover around a mile of trail from the parking lot. Please bring drinking water, good walking shoes, and binoculars if you have them. The park has a few binoculars to lend to participants on a first come, first serve basis. The event is free but a three dollar parking fee per vehicle applies at the River Road parking lot. Restroom facilities are available near the parking area.

All who attend have an opportunity to expand their knowledge and appreciation of the birds that make High Bridge trail their home. For more information contact the park office at 434-315-0457 or email highbridgetrail@dcr.virginia.gov.
