Holliday Lake, Notes Memorial Day Events

Holliday Lake State Park celebrates Memorial Day Weekend with the following events:
Friday, May 24: 7 p.m. “Welcome Campfire,” – come to the Amphitheater for some interesting tales about the area before there was a state park or even a lake; hear a story or two and roast marshmallows;
Saturday, May 25: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. “Touch of Nature,” – a few minutes with a variety of animal furs, bones and artifacts from the area; a hands-on activity; the interpretive staff will be at the tent between the beach and concession stand;
6 p.m. “Canoe Tour,” – discover Holliday Lake at twilight; paddle around the shores of the lake until it gets dark enough to enjoy the moonlight on the water; cost is $6 per paddler and advance registration is required; children over age four are welcome with an adult; meet at the Boat House;
Sunday, May 26: 2 p.m. “Craft Program,” – cost is $2 per project to cover the cost of materials; all ages welcome; meet at the tent between the beach and concession stand;
8 p.m. “Civil War Slide Show,” – special guest Longwood University's Dr. Jim Jordan presents his personal collection of Civil War photographs; meet at Shelter # 1;
Monday, May 27, MEMORIAL DAY: 2 p.m. “Memorial Day T-Shirt Tie Dye Program,” – white shirts and dye will be provided for a fee of $6 per shirt; meet at the amphitheater.
