High Bridge Trail State Park will hold an afternoon walking tour through the village of Prospect on Saturday, April 13, at 2 p.m.
Bob Flippen, the Park's Education Specialist, teams up with members of the Prospect Historical Society to point out the numerous attractions, past and present, located in this historic village. Some of these include the South Side Rail Road depot, blacksmith shop, Taylor's Store, Allen's Hotel, Masonic Lodge, and the relocated offices for Lawyer Lewis and Dr. Alsop. There will also be displays of old pictures and artifacts relating to Prospect and the public is invited to view the architectural renderings and plans for the restoration of the old train depot.
The walk will begin at the High Bridge Trail Parking lot in Prospect (on Rt. 626 just beyond the old railroad depot off Hwy 460). Plenty of parking is available here and a parking fee applies. Remember to bring drinking water. For more information or directions contact the park office at 434-315-0457.
