James H. “Billy” Young

PROSPECT, April 18 – James H. “Billy” Young, of Prospect, born on May 11, 1926, died peacefully in his home, attended by family and friends, on Saturday, April 13, 2013.

He served in the Navy and was a veteran of WWII. He was a devoted son and brother, an active member of his church and a long time member of his community.

Mr. Young is survived by nephews, Richard Talmadge “RT” Young (Shirley Anne) of Birch Run, MI, Ramsey Young (Rebecca) of Chesapeake, and Tyree Young (Linda) of Rocky Mount, NC; great nephews and nieces, Gregory, Mark and family, Heather and family, Jessee and family, Brooke and family, Clarissa, Rachele and family, and Gwen and Joel. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Humphrey and Ethel Baldwin Young, sisters, Corinne, Doris and Sara Jane Young, brothers, Humphrey and John “Dickey” Young and special friend, William Henry.

The family will receive friends at Shorter Funeral Home on Friday, April 19 between 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m.

A funeral service will be held at Glenn Memorial Baptist Church, Prospect, on Saturday, April 20 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Prospect United Methodist Church Cemetery.

His family extends special appreciation to Centra Hospice of Farmville and his personal care providers.
