Editor, The Herald:

I would like to extend my extra-planetary gratitude to everyone who helped make Earth Day Farmville happen… my family, friends, the Town of Farmville, the Farmville Area Kiwanis, Colonial Farm Credit. We enjoyed our celebration at the Farmville Area Farmer's Market on Saturday & gave lots of love to the place we all call home, Planet Earth. The Holistic Moms Network Southside chapter spread the love sharing inflatable globes for the kids – now they can all hug her anytime. The Kiwanis collected gently loved stuffed animals, Alecia Johnson collected recyclables, Crumptown Farm helped kids plant a seed to take home, the Longwood University Fishing Club inspired young anglers, Girl Scout Troop 273 had a recycled material craft, the Jr. Master Gardeners brought their vermiculture project and taught about composting with worms, Camp Loud & Clear sold their cookbook, the Margaret H. Watson Bird Club gave birding advice, the Friends of the Appomattox shared their mission, BattleGround Martial Arts gave away noodle swords, Melanie Anderson & Cynthia Devlin shared a blessing for the earth & a breathwalk, Natalie Kimmel entertained the children with her Imagine Music, Vicky Page handed out FVA stickers to promote the social media 'handle' for our community, powers & brown played their hearts out. And Clean Virginia Waterways for sharing their rain barrel. Thanks to everyone who supports the efforts being made & is cultivating commUnity in our area. We all know, to live here is to love here.

Celebrate Earth Day everyday…
