Longwood Dog Walk To Benefit SPCA

Published 4:20 pm Thursday, March 14, 2013

Are you a dog lover? If so, come out and support the Southside SPCA and the Longwood Athletic Trainer's Association (LATA) at their 8th dog walk on Saturday, March 23, on Brock Commons at Longwood University.

Only 15 dogs and their owners participated in the first LATA dog walk in 2005. Since the initial event, the number of participants has gradually increased to a group of over 30 dogs and owners in 2012. Over the course of the years, the LATA has raised over $20,000 for local charities.

Registration for this year's event is $20. The first 50 registrants will receive a commemorative t-shirt and dog bandana. While there is a limit of two dogs per walker, the registration fee for a second dog with the same owner is only $10. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Brock Commons at Longwood University and the walk will start promptly at 10:00am. Come out and meet guest host Amy Lacey from WRIC in Richmond.

There will also be lots of fun contests and door prizes from local businesses up for grabs. Don't miss this chance to support the Southside SPCA which is a no-kill animal shelter staffed almost entirely by volunteers, and supported entirely by donations.
