Emma “Jean” (Thompson) Jaynes

WILLIAMSBURG, March 26 – Emma “Jean” (Thompson) Jaynes went home to be with our Lord on Monday, March 25, 2013 at the age of 78. She had been a resident of Williamsburg for 55 years, moving here from her childhood home in Farmville in 1958. She retired from Eastern State Hospital in 1988 after 23 years of service. In her retirement she enjoyed playing Bingo, traveling, working with her flowers and plants and a variety of crafts.
She leaves behind her loving husband of eight years, Jimmy Jaynes; beloved children, Barbara Duke (Jim) and Terry Thompson (Evon); step-daughter, Debbie Brown (Bo); daughter-in-law, Cookie Thompson; ten grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Flora Bolt; and two brothers, Robert and Garland Woodson. She was preceded in death by a beloved son, T.O. Thompson Jr., parents, Wallace and Margie Woodson, sister, Katherine and brother, Merrill.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 28 from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. at Bucktrout Funeral Home, 4124 Ironbound Road, Williamsburg, VA 23188, where a service will follow. Burial will be private at a later date.
