February 21 – “Poor indeed is the man who cannot enjoy the simple things of life.”
Glenn Memorial Baptist Church will ordain Furman Joye as a minister of the gospel on Sunday, Feb. 24 at 3 p.m. in the Church sanctuary with refreshments to follow in the fellowship hall.
Peggy Kelsey and her twin sister, Polly Duncan, from Columbia, visited their aunt and uncle, Ralph and Grace Repass of the Chestnut Grove area on Monday.
On Saturday Pat Smith met with her college roommate, Carolyn Boyd, for lunch in Lynchburg. Joining them was Bettie Downy, a classmate they had not seen since 1968.
On Monday Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith hosted the monthly covered dish for the small group at Faith Bible Fellowship. Attending were Hilde Watson, Mr. and Mrs. Al Quinlan, Mr. and Mrs. Eric Fehr, Mr. and Mrs. John Utzinger and Mr. and Mrs. Richard McClintock.
Betty Noblin is very happy to be home following hip surgery and three weeks of therapy.
The Presbytery of the Peaks held its quarterly meeting last Saturday at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Lynchburg. Dale Bolt attended representing Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle; Richard Stockton represented Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect and Margaret Stockton attended as a visitor.
Neighbors, family and friends are praying for a speedy recovery for those that are sick at this time; Jenni Bolt is improving following surgery, Howard Campbell is now at home following his surgery, Tola Morgan, Leroy Fahrner, John Gager, Bonnie Oswald and Frances Moore.
Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle invites everyone to Sunday school at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. The Rev. William “Bill” Clark will be in the pulpit this Sunday.
The membership of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect invites you to come and worship with them every Sunday; Sunday school is at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. The Rev. Katherine Todd will be with them this week.
Calvary Chapel-Farmville invites you to worship with them on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. They invite you to join them each week on Wednesday evening for Bible Study for all age groups at 7 p.m. Calvary Chapel-Farmville is located at 45 Simpson in Prospect, two miles west of Dowdy's Corner just off of US 460.
