Charles Allen Wilson, 83

CULLEN, February 12 – Charles Allen Wilson, 83, of Cullen, passed away on Friday, February 1, 2013 in Farmville. He was born August 24, 1929 in Hematite to the late Jesse Allen and Myrtle Elizabeth Booth Wilson.

Mr. Wilson served his country in the United States Navy where he was honorably discharged. He was a teacher and personnel director. He had many outside interests and was very active in many organizations including: Former Department Commander of the American Legion, Former President of the Lion's Club, Former Worthy Patron of the Mason and Former Board Member of the Easter Seals. Additionally, he was a Former Board Member of the Martinsville Rescue Squad. Mr. Wilson went on to earn his Masters Degree after becoming blind. One of his favorite hobbies was traveling; it was a great passion of Mr. Wilson.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Wilson; his children, Michael Wilson, Maria Stintzcum and William VanSickle; grandchild, Alex Stintzcum and siblings, Jack Wilson and Linda Carpenter.

A memorial service will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church on Saturday, February 16, at 11 a.m. Interment will be private at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John's Lutheran Church or to the Darlington Heights Volunteer Fire Department.
