January 17 – Happy Birthday wishes go out this week to Cecil Ashburn and Junior Trent of Cumberland, celebrating on Friday, January 18, Ric Mahunik, of Brookneal, and Dottie Roosevelt, of Cumberland, celebrating on Sunday, January 20; and John Trammell of Farmville, celebrating on Thursday, January 24.
Welcome home to Bea England, of Dillwyn, who was in the hospital. She is said to be doing well as of this writing.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those who are sick and shut-in.
Our sympathy is extended to the Duncan family of Dillwyn. Joyce Duncan, 79, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 15. A funeral service was held on, January 18 at Cedar Baptist Church in Dillwyn. She was a long time devoted member to her church, Cedar Baptist, and the Buckingham County Christian Fellowship Association. She will be greatly missed by all.
Our prayers and best wishes for a speedy recovery are sent out this week to two special friends, Irvin Toney, of Dillwyn, and Seay Davis, of Arvonia. Both gentlemen are experiencing health issues.
Thought for the Day: Our children are a gift from God. So save a child and save a life.
Pete and Annie May Miles, of Dillwyn, visited in the home of his sister, Frances Smith, in Dillwyn, on Friday afternoon, January 11.
Maratha Baptist Church, located on Tuggle Road in Farmville, will host special services on January 20.
At 10:30 a.m. all are invited to come and enjoy a concert presented by the Fork Union Military Academy Men's Choir.
The 11 a.m. worship service will begin with more special guest choir, music followed by the morning message from guest Fork Union Military Academy Chaplain James Benson. A love offering will be received. Following this there will be a soup and grilled cheese lunch in the church fellowship hall. Pastor Steve Conwell and the entire church congregation cordially invites all to attend.
