CUMBERLAND – A brief power outage affected approximately 200 Dominion Power customers in Cumberland County, including the courthouse and public school buildings, at approximately 6:45 a.m. on Tuesday. According to Dominion Power Spokesperson Daisy Pridgen, the outage was due to equipment failure. She also stated that power was fully restored by 8 a.m.

Cumberland County Public Schools opened at their normal time, according to Assistant Superintendent Chip Jones, and generators at both the elementary school and middle/high school complex were operational.
