RICHMOND, January 15 – Mary Evelyn Crenshaw, 96, formerly of Farmville, passed away Friday, January 11, 2013 in Richmond. She was born October 15, 1916 in Southampton County to the late Willie A. and Edna Harvell Beale.
Mrs. Crenshaw was the eldest of seven children. She was the widow of Eric Reynolds Crenshaw. She worked as a store clerk at the drug store on Main Street in Farmville.
She is survived by her children, Lillian C. Knight and Eric Reynolds Crenshaw Jr. (Linda) all of Richmond; grandchildren, Thomas O. Knight, III (Dale) and Vanessa K. Mavilia (Mark) all of Richmond, David C. Knight (Robbie) of Nashville, TN and Lara Elizabeth Crenshaw of Richmond; great-grandchildren, Thomas B., Tristan O. and Sadie E. Knight, Mark J. Mavilia Jr., Frank and Catie Mavilia and Joshua and Andy Knight; brother, Jack Beale (Doris Ann) of Waverly, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel Reynolds Crenshaw, son-in-law, Thomas O. Knight, and siblings, Robert Lee, Cecil L. “Buck” and A.W. “Pete” Beale, Dorothy Beale Seward and Fay Beale Worrell.
A funeral service was held on Sunday, January 13, at the Chapel of Shorter Funeral Home with interment in Westview Cemetery, Farmville.
