December 6 – Happy Birthday wishes are sent out to Joyce Duncan, of Fork Union Nursing Home, celebrating on Friday, December 7; Lynn Cloud, of Cumberland, celebrating on Monday, December 10; and Nancy Midkiff, of Cumberland, celebrating on Thursday, December 13.
Sympathy is extended to the Pembleton family of Powhatan. Bill Pembelton, 80, of Powhatan, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 30. A funeral Service was held on Monday, December 3, at Muddy Creek Baptist Church Powhatan. He will be greatly missed by all.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those who are sick and shut-in.
James and Virginia Boyles, of Cumberland, along with Elizabeth Stone, of Dillwyn, visited in the homes of Billy and Louise Boyles and Alison Boyles in Amelia on Tuesday, December 4. Everyone enjoyed the fellowship and had a nice visit.
Thought for the Day: We can go a lot further together than we can alone.
Arvonia Christian Fellowship Church, located off of U.S. Route 15 North of Dillwyn in Arvonia on State Route 672, will host their annual Christmas Program on Sunday, December 9 during their regular worship service at 1 p.m. This year's theme is “The Christmas Story.” Following the program there will be a buffet lunch in the church fellowship hall. Maranatha Baptist Church located on Tuggle Road in Prince Edward County will hold their annual Christmas Program on Sunday evening, December 16, at 6 p.m. This year's program will be a musical.
Following this will be refreshments and surprises in the church fellowship hall.
Brown Chapel United Methodist Church, located off of U.S. Route 15 North of Dillwyn on State Route 617 (Gravel Hill Rd.), will be hosting a Drive-Thru Spaghetti Supper with all the trimmings on Friday evening, December 7 from 5-7 p.m.
This event is on a donation basis. All proceeds will help to defray the cost of the new church sign.
