Nelson Byrd Price, 86

JANUARY 1 – Nelson Byrd Price, 86, beloved husband and father, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, December 28, 2012.

He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy in WWII, where he saw action at Iwo Jima and Okinawa. A gifted gardener, he enjoyed sharing the bounty of his harvest with friends and family. He was quick to help anyone in need. For over fifty years he was a member of Burkeville Baptist Church, where he had served as a Deacon and Sunday school teacher.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Anne J. Price; children, Leonard R. Price, Kimberly (Greg) Mills, and Kelly (David) Hancock; six grandchildren; and a sister, Lucille Williams. Preceding him in death was his twin brother, Henry Price and a sister, Kathleen Cifers.

A memorial service was held Monday, December 31 at Burkeville Baptist Church.
