Baileys Celebrate 72nd Anniversary

Frank L. Bailey and Geraldine Palmer Bailey, of Keysville, observed their 72nd wedding anniversary on November 21.
They were married in 1940 at a time when stamps were three cents, gas was under 15 cents per gallon, and FDR was president. In 1943, Frank was deployed to Japan while serving in the Army during WWII. Once he returned from service, the couple settled into the hard-working pattern of managing their tobacco farm, but Frank found time for hunting, fishing, and being a car-racing fan, and Geraldine found time for reading and (to the pleasure of family and friends) lots of cooking.
The Baileys have two children (Mac and Bonnie) plus grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After living in the same area for 93 years, they continue sharing lots of good stories about their lives and the neighborhood.
Recently, they attended Homecoming at Cool Spring Church where both are long-time members, with Frank being one of the oldest living members.
“It is a real blessing for the longevity of their marriage and lives,” a family spokesperson said.
