What a wonderful rain we had in Tuggle on Saturday all day and then again Tuesday night.
The Prospect Historical Society will meet Tuesday, Sept. 4, at 7:30 p.m in the Prospect Fire House.
The Prospect Happy Hats enjoyed a day out last Thursday. Mrs. Elsie Wilson was the hostess with a luncheon at the Babcock House in Appomattox. The crab cakes were a hit. Those attending were: Elsie Wilson, Hilda Allen, Joyce Floyd, Ann Norton, Betty Meadows, Margaret Stockton, Pat Smith, Jeannette Tarlton, Edwina Covington, Elfrieda Kerns and Lois Johnson.
Sean Stockton talked his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Stockton, to travel back to Natural Bridge on Wednesday to see the Zoo and the Caverns. Sean and his paw, Richard, enjoyed a ride on an elephant. Sean enjoyed all the animals especially the baby tigers, giraffes, some birds and snow monkeys.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Kelsey attended the birthday celebration for Mrs. Inez D. Simpson on Aug. 25 at the Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall.
Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith enjoyed having lunch at Country Cookin' after church on Sunday.
<!– 1upcrlf2 –>On Monday, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith drove to Greensboro, NC, for some shopping and after visiting Replacements China, had lunch before returning home.
Mr. and Mrs. Gene Southall along with Kathy Bailey traveled to Scottsville on August 25; they dined at the new restaurant “Tavern by the River” located by the James River. The rain was heavy going and coming, some areas there received between five and seven inches. They ended by stopping near Buckingham Court House and bought three jars of local honey, the kind that keeps you young.
Mrs. Inez D. Simpson was honored on Saturday for her 95th birthday. Her daughter-in-law, Marlene Simpson, and three grandsons, Jaylee, Chris, and Bryon, hosted a birthday celebration for her in the Fellowship Hall at Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle. Family members of the Simpson and Dowdy families were present.
The annual Woodson/Southall family reunion will take place on Saturday, Sept. 8, beginning at noon in the Appomattox Prince Edward Presbyterian Fellowship Hall.
“Special Blessings” of Glenn Memorial Baptist Church at Prospect met on Monday putting the finishing touches on their projects. Those attending were Mrs. Shirley Fulcher, Mrs. Nancy Mottley, Mrs. Shirley Mottley, Mrs. Jeannette Tarlton and Mrs. Evelyn Shelton.
Mrs. Julia Meadows Shotwell and daughter Kate spent several days with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Don Meadows. On Monday night they entertained, with a dinner, Mr. and Mrs. John Gager and Mrs. Flora Bolt.
Friends and neighbors are wishing a speedy recovery for all those who are sick at this time; Patsy Horne, Dennis Leonard, and Wanda Whitus.
Mrs. Flora Bolt helped her granddaughter Jennifer Page Bolt celebrate her birthday on Sunday; also joining them were her parents Mr. and Mrs. Dale Bolt and brother Chris Bolt. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Bolt hosted the celebration for their daughter. The food was delicious and Jennifer received many nice gifts.
The “Girls” Mrs. Flora Bolt, Mrs. Frances Southall and Mrs. Alice Bartlett, met for lunch Aug. 23 at the Huddle House. Later on Thursday afternoon Mrs. Bolt visited four ladies at Brookview; Mrs. Page Johnson, Mrs. Ruth Southall, Mrs. Dot Shumaker and Mrs. Ruth Ferguson.
Mrs. Flora Bolt was sadden to hear of the death of her sister-in-law Mrs. Truman Bolt, of Willis and formally of Farmville. Ethel had been in a nursing home for several years.
Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle invites everyone to Sunday School at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. The Rev. Chuck Klotzberger will be in the pulpit this Sunday.
The membership of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect invites you to come and worship with them every Sunday; Sunday School is at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m.
Calvary Chapel-Farmville invites you to worship with them on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. They invite you to join them each week on Wednesday evening for Bible Study for all age groups at 7 p.m. Calvary Chapel-Farmville is located at 45 Simpson Road in Prospect, two miles west of Dowdy's Corner just off of US 460.
