James Frederick MacKenzie

AUGUST 30 – James Frederick MacKenzie, a devoted husband, father and grandfather passed away on Tuesday, August 28, 2012. He was born July 1, 1926 in Orono, Maine.
He was a four-letter athlete in high school and served in the United States Marine Corps during WWII and the Korean War. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 65 years and was active in the lives of his sons coaching Little League and as a Scout Leader.
Mr. MacKenzie retired to Prince Edward County from Norfolk in 1987 where he spent his time being a gentleman, farmer, traveling, entertaining his friends and watching his family grow. He was a member of the China Marine Association and Douglas Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by Helen Francis MacKenzie, his wife of 61 years; three sons, Earle of New Market, Jeff of Gibsonville, NC and James of Suffolk; daughters-in-law, Glenna and Mary Sue; grandchildren, Heather, Alex, Chad, Jennabeth and Collin; and great-grandchildren, Austin, Corey, Madison and Charlotte.
Services will be held at Douglas Presbyterian Church on Saturday, September 1 at 2 p.m.
