Farmers Market Opening
CUMBERLAND – Just in time for summertime eating, Cumberland County now has a Farmers Market. The fresh produce will be available every Wednesday starting on July 11.
“This is an exciting project as it brings yet another service and provides one more opportunity for Cumberland residents to stay here and shop in the Cumberland Courthouse area while helping local farmers/growers sell their crops,” offered Greg Baka, Cumberland's director of community and economic development, about the Farmers Market accomplishment.
The Farmers Market in Cumberland is located at Fitzgerald Memorial Baptist Church near the Courthouse area and will be open between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.
There will be other activities at the Farmers Market provided by the community each week.
A children's story time and crafts start at 4 p.m. until 5 p.m. each Wednesday provided by the Cumberland Library and Cumberland Extension Office.
Fresh vegetables, fruit, honey and baked goods will be available.
According to Market Manager, Randy Ingle, the market in Cumberland is scheduled to run through October 25.
According to Ingle, the Farmers Market has secured approximately 15 vendors and applications can be obtained by emailing to email@example.com.
There is no application or vendor fee to participate in the market but donations to the church are appreciated, according to the application.
Producers may sell only those vegetables and meats they produce or with the pre-approval of the producer or farmer for whom they are selling, according to the applications. Artisans must include photos and descriptions of items with the application. Resale is prohibited. All items presented for sale must be hand-crafted or individually designed/crafted by the artist.
