Luther Howard Chernault, 56

GLENMORE, May 22 – Luther Howard Chernault, 56, formerly of Chestnut Grove in Buckingham County, died peacefully Sunday, May 20, 2012 in Glenmore. Born in Charlottesville January 27, 1956, he was the son of the late Frank Howard Chernault and Cenia H. Chernault.

He is survived by a son, Nicholas Ittner of Amelia; daughter, Celine Chernault of Alexandria; sister, Margaret Catherine C. Gross of Dinwiddie; half-sister, Rita S. Hill and husband, Roy of New Store; half-brothers, Terry Shelton of Farmville and Fred Shelton of Unicoi, TN; maternal uncle, Hobert Harris of Sheppards; four aunts, Gladys Morris of Chestnut Grove, Daisy Shumaker of Brookneal, Roxie Nester of Lynchburg and Edna Coleman of Gladstone and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A special thanks to his caregiver, Alice Palmore and husband, Dabney during his extended illness, for their kindness, open-heartedness and love, and to his friends for their loving support.

Visitation will be from 6-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 23 at Dunkum Funeral Home.

A funeral service will held at 11 a.m. Thursday morning, May 24, at Chestnut Grove Baptist Church (Rd. #612) with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Friends and family are invited to gather in the church fellowship hall afterwards.
