APPOMATTOX, April 3 – Daniel Peyton Edwards Jr., 68, of Appomattox, passed away Saturday, March 31, 2012 in Appomattox. He was born May 31, 1943 in Henry Co., the son of the late Daniel Peyton Edwards Sr. and Esther Valentine Griffin Edwards. He was the widower of Lisa Jean Moore Edwards.

Mr. Edwards was a proud former United States Marine and a member of the Masonic Order AF&AM where he was a Master Mason 32nd degree Scottish Rite. He was an associate professor at SVCC John H. Daniel Campus; he also was a retired Major with the Department of Corrections where he was chief of security.

He loved airplanes and was a certified flight instructor. He was the founding President of the Farmville Chapter EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association).

Mr. Edwards was reunited with the love of his life, Lisa, on Saturday, however, in his last few years he found love again with his companion, Wanda (WaWoo) Maddox.

He was a beloved father to a loving daughter, Anita Carole Edwards of Virginia Beach; a loving son, James C. Edwards (Bracken West) of Rincon, GA; two grandchildren, Carolyn Valentine and Amanda Leigh Edwards; and a sister, Carole Jane Edwards Morck of Richmond.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 4, at 3 p.m. at the Chapel of Puckett Funeral Home. Family will receive friends on Wednesday at 2 p.m. until time of service.
