CREWE, March 6 – Willie H. Bowles, 90, of Crewe, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2012. He was the widower of Mary Lee Bowles and is survived by his wife, Frances Falls Bowles.

Mr. Bowles was a WWII US Navy veteran having served in the European-African Theatre, as well as the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre.

Survivors also include a son, William E. Bowles (Susan) of Midlothian; two grandsons, William E. Bowles Jr. of Glendale, California and Matthew T. Bowles of Richmond; four nephews, Ronald E. Bowles (Liz) of Farmville, Larry Bowles (Juanita) of Powhatan, Sam Bowles Jr. (Kim) of North Carolina, and Clarence Ferguson of Cumberland; and niece, Lucille Ferguson of Cumberland. He was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, at the Joseph McMillian Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 9 at the Crewe Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Crewe Cemetery with military honors provided by the Crewe VFW Post 7819 of which he was a lifetime member.
