BLACKSTONE, March 1 – Steve D. Ferguson, 56, of Blackstone, passed away Wednesday, February 29, 2012.

He was the County Planner for Nottoway County, former General Manager of Larry's Chevrolet of Blackstone, owner and operator of the former Economy Supermarket of Blackstone, and was a past sales representative for Armour Dial in Baltimore, MD. He was a 1977 graduate of the University of Richmond with a degree in Business.

Mr. Ferguson served his church as Elder and Deacon and was a member of the Gideons. He was devoted to his family and was passionate about helping the people in his community.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Jane B. Ferguson; two children, Stephen Matthew Ferguson and Megan Elizabeth Ferguson, both of Richmond; father, Howard Ferguson of Farmville; and sister, Jackie F. Reid (Bill) of Blackstone. He was preceded in death by his mother, Iris Ferguson.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, at the Joseph McMillian Funeral Home.

Memorial services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, March 3, at the Blackstone Presbyterian Church, Blackstone. Interment is private and will take place in Westview Cemetery in Farmville.
