DILLWYN, Feb. 16 – Joseph “Joe” H. Jamerson, of Dillwyn, was born on February 17, 1923. He passed away from natural causes on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 in his home with his family by his side. He is preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Jamerson.
He served as 1st Lieutenant in the United States Army in the 386th Air Service Group at Iwo Jima and was a decorated war veteran. He lived and died in the community he loved. The family grieves his passing while rejoicing in his presence with the Lord.
Mr. Jamerson is survived by his wife, Janet Jamerson; children, Hank Jamerson and wife, Debbie of Dillwyn, Pam Wright of Dillwyn, and Debbie Roberson and husband, Wayne; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, Tara and Dennis McAdorey and children, Buddy, Willie and B.J. of Las Vegas, Nevada, Ashley McCavanagh and daughter, Kirsten of Richmond, Martin and Sherine Wright and children, Farah, Layla and Dylan of Leesburg, Anna and Damien Lowery and daughter, Sydney of Sterling, and Janet's daughter, Patrice Bauserman.
Friends will be received on Thursday (tonight) from 7-9 p.m. and at the funeral service at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 17 at First Baptist Church, Dillwyn.
