January 12 – “Happy people are those who are producing something.”

Is it Spring? On Jan. 10 my yard was filled with robins or are they just confused?

Some classmates of Farmville High School met Jan. 4 for their monthly luncheon at Merk's Place. Those enjoying the fellowship and food were Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Dickerson, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Floyd, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Stockton, Mrs. Blondell Bowman, Mrs. Shirley Fulcher, Ms. Kate Shorter and Bobbie Leatherwood. They all look forward to the first Wednesday of February for their next luncheon.

On Sunday Hilda Allen, Lois Johnson and Elfrieda Kerns traveled to Blackstone to take in the large train display. They enjoyed the display and the time they had together.

Last Friday the Prospect Happy Hats motored to Appomattox to Granny Bees for lunch and to plan the upcoming year. Some great plans were made; following lunch some of the group went shopping.

Mrs. Mildred Harvey Shanks visited Olive Branch Methodist Church on Sunday with her cousin Richard Harvey. She enjoyed seeing so many friends of yesteryear.

Mr. and Mrs. Don Meadows went to Blackstone on Sunday to view the train display. They report it was exciting.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Floyd traveled to Orange on Monday where they attended the induction ceremony of their granddaughter Campbell McCord into the Honor Society.

The Stocktons, Richard, Margaret, Lon, Mary Jo and Sean, celebrated Christmas on Jan. 11.

Family, friends and neighbors wish a speedy recovery for those who are sick at this time; Mike Coleman, Mrs. Page Johnson, Mr. Billy Slayton, Mrs. Naomi Skinner, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Adcock, and Mrs. Flora Bolt,

Friends and neighbors are expressing their sincere sympathy to the families of Phyllis Towler, Mrs. Louise Ford Harris Wilck and Dr. Wilbur Burger. These will be greatly missed by all those who knew them.

Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle invites everyone to Sunday School at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. Rev. Chuck Klotzberger will be in the pulpit this Sunday.

The membership of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect invites you to come and worship with them every Sunday; Sunday School is at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. The Rev. William “Bill” Clark will fill the pulpit this Sunday as the congregation celebrates Holy Communion.

Calvary Chapel-Farmville invites you to worship with them on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. They invite you to join them each week on Wednesday evening for Bible Study for all age groups at 7 p.m. Calvary Chapel-Farmville is located at 45 Simpson Road in Prospect, two miles west of Dowdy's Corner just off of US 460.
