January 20 – Happy Birthday wishes are sent out to Rick Mahunik, of Brookneal, and Dottie Roosevelt, of Cumberland, celebrating on Friday, January 20, and John Trammel, of Farmville, celebrating on Tuesday, January 24.
Pete and Annie May Miles, of Dillwyn, visited Curtis and Faye Marion and James and Virginia Boyles, all of Cumberland, on Wednesday, January 18.
Our thoughts and prayers go out this week to those who are sick and shut-in.
Visiting in the home of Barry and Linda Miles of Cumberland on Wednesday, January 18 were Chuck and Nancy Fairchild and Nancy's mother, Ella R. Snoddy, all of New Canton. Sympathy is extended to the Chick family of Louisa. Dorothy Chick, 94, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 12. A funeral service was held on Monday, January 16. She was the mother of Virgil Chick of Cumberland and June Bryant of Chesterfield. She will be greatly missed by all.
Lunch guests in the home of Ray and Grace Martin of Dillwyn on Saturday, January 14 were Jennie Ownby, of Cumberland, Grace Martin's sister Betty Jo and her husband Boyce Barnette, and Betty Jo's daughter Cathy and her daughter Haley all of North Carolina. A nice time was had by all.

Spreading God's Gift Inc. in Buckingham is a non-profit local organization that extends help to individuals and families in their hour of need. The organization holds monthly meetings each first Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the meeting room at Taylor's Convenience store in Dillwyn. Spreading God's Gifts, Inc. will have a benefit dinner concert on Saturday evening, February 4 from 6-8 p.m. in the Buckingham County Middle School Cafetorium, located just off of Route 60 on High School Road in Buckingham. Dinner includes homemade spaghetti, bread, tossed salad, dessert, water, tea or coffee for a tax deducible donation.
Throughout the evening, special music will be presented by Cathy Whatley of Virginia Beach. She performs hits of the late Patsy Cline, and Gospel Music. Funds resulting from this event will help individuals and families in the hour of need. All are invited to make plans to share an evening of great food and music. Puckett Funeral Home in Farmville is co-sponsoring this evening. Everyone is cordially invited to attend and a bring a friend. Note: Snow date for this event will be Saturday, February 18.
