Regina McCoy Williams, 91

VIRGINIA BEACH, Jan. 26 – Regina McCoy Williams, 91, died Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Beth Sholom of Eastern Virginia in Virginia Beach. Born in Grafton, WV she was the daughter of the late Winifred and Helen Cook McCoy.

Mrs. Williams was a graduate of Farmville Normal School. She taught at the Everett School in Virginia Beach. She was one of the first teachers at Carolton Oaks in Norfolk and was one of its first teachers helping Kate Jennings, Margaret Moore and Helen Walker. She taught in Texas at a Mission School near Brownsville.

Survivors include a daughter, Helen W. Casper and husband, Bob of Norfolk; son, Emmett F. Williams, III and wife, Barbara of Arlington; sister, Emily T. Hilty of Satellite Beach, FL; brother-in-law, Francis Arena of Rice; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett F. Williams Jr. and a sister, Suzanne McCoy Arena.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, January 30, at Avalon Hills Bible Church, 5728 Indian River Road, Virginia Beach conducted by Pastors Rod Puckett and John Casper. Burial at a later date will be in the Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery, Rice.

Memorial donations may be made to the Church of the Epiphany Episcopal Church in Washington, D.C. or Avalon Hills Bible Church in Virginia Beach.
