The Cumberland County Board of Supervisors will meet on Tuesday, February 14, 2012, at 7:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as may be heard, in the Circuit Courtroom at the Cumberland Courthouse in Cumberland, Virginia, to conduct a public hearing pursuant to Virginia Code Section 15.2-2204, which such hearing may be continued or adjourned, as required under applicable law, and to consider the following item and taking actions in furtherance thereof:
Code Amendment 11-09- Proposed Amendment to the Code of Cumberland County: The Cumberland County Planning Commission will review a proposal to recommend to the Board of Supervisors an amendment to the County Code entitled “An ordinance amending Chapters 54 Subdivisions and 74 Zoning of the Cumberland County Code..” The proposed amendment would amend the sections of the Code that regulate lot line adjustments and pre-existing non-conforming lots.
The public purpose of the proposed amendments is to revise the Code that regulates lot line adjustments, or boundary line adjustments and pre-existing non-conforming lots. Currently the Code would prohibit adjusting any boundary lines of a pre-existing parcel that does not meet all aspect of the zoning requirements. This amendment would permit boundary line adjustments to non-conforming parcels, so long as the adjustment does not make them even more non-conforming.
Copies of the complete text of the above proposed ordinance, resolution and associated documents are available for public review at the office of the Cumberland County Planning Department, County Administration Building, 1 Courthouse Circle, Cumberland, Virginia between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm of each business day. The public is invited to attend these hearings at which persons affected may appear and present their views orally or in writing. Questions or comments may be directed to Mr. Bret Schardein, Planning Director, at (804) 492-3520 or bschardein@cumberlandcounty.virginia.gov. Persons with disabilities are urged to contact the County Administrator's Office at (804) 492-3625 at least five (5) days prior to the meeting to arrange for any necessary accommodations.
