Editor, The Herald:
On Tuesday, November 22, a trailer departed Farmville with 10,235 shoe box gifts which will soon be distributed to children in nearly 100 countries. 5,163 gifts were donated at the Farmville United Methodist Church collection site and the remaining 5,072 at the South Central Virginia relay centers in Dillwyn, Pamplin, Blackstone, Chase City, Keysville, LaCrosse, and Buffalo Junction.
Individuals, businesses, civic organizations, schools, and churches who packed boxes, volunteered at packing parties and collection centers, contributed gift items, made monetary contributions, nd prayed for the Operation Christmas Child project are bringing smiles, joy, and hope to underprivileged children, many whom have never received a gift.
It is a true blessing to be a part of and work with such a caring community. Thank you South Central Virginians for giving generously and sharing the true meaning of Christmas.
Merry Christmas to one and all!
