Mark your calendar for Friday, Aug. 26 at 7 p.m. Bob Flippen will be conducting one of his “High Bridge” talks/walks at Prospect. Prospect is about nine (9) miles west of Farmville, the walk will start at the depot, parking will be at the depot.
Joey Lee of Pamplin, and A.J. Southall of Prospect, participated in the Cartersville Fire Department Hillbilly Raft Race July 30. Joey, age 12, and A.J., age 11, left on their inflatable raft at Columbia, and paddled to Elk's Island, when due to a broken paddle and loss of air in the raft, they received a tow to Cartersville,
The boys enjoyed their day on the James River very much and were recognized by the Cartersville Fire Department with certificates, hats and $10 dollars each. Joey and A.J. told the Fire Chief that they will definitely win next year.
Mr. and Mrs. Mike (Kim) Shumaker and children Debra Sue and Darrell were accompanied by Peggy Kelsey and Celena Kelsey on their trip to Shenandoah University. Debra Sue was attending open house.
Miss Five County Fair Stacy Bolt surprised the children of the Farmville/Prince Edward Community Library the week of July 18. Her Highness arrived in her royal gown and crown to read to Monday and Tuesday's classes. Boys and girls had their photo taken with Her Highness and His Highness, Prince Michael Williams, a volunteer of the Library.
Mrs. Flora Bolt attended the services for Ronald Banko last week.
Shirley Fulcher was among the classmates having lunch together last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Don (Betty) Meadows attended the monthly community dinner on Monday night held at the old Curdsville School.
Last Sunday Peggy Kelsey attended the fourth birthday party for Bo Richter at the home of his parents Mr. and Mrs. Will (Lisa) Richter in Powhatan. Bo is the grandson of Polly Simpson Duncan and the great nephew of Peggy Simpson Kelsey.
Mrs. Flora Bolt enjoyed lunch on Sunday at KFC with some of her family; Mr. and Mrs. Steve (Terri) Bolt, Haley and Payden; and Mr. and Mrs. David (Ashley) Pacquett.
On Sunday evening Flora had a visit from Mr. and Mrs. Douglas (Betty Jean) Bolt and daughter Stacy.
Family, friends and neighbors are sending special get well wishes to all those who are sick at this time; Eloise Tucker and Sharon Carney.
