Editor, The Herald,

I want to personally thank all the members of the Buckingham County Rescue Squad, UVa Medical Center, Town of Farmville, and countless other friends and neighbors. My husband, John Duggan, was involved in a fatal accident on the 28th of July. I know that every possible care was given to him and later his family as we dealt with this devastating news. He was first found by a wonderful couple who took the time to call me, which allowed me to be with John during his last moments. I will forever be grateful to them.

In the following days and weeks, the people of this great community have given all the love and support possible. It will be a long, hard adjustment to life without my husband by my side and my children without their father. John took great pride in his work as a surveyor and as a local businessman. My hope is that the business he started with his partner, Greg Watson, will continue to grow and flourish. I know he will be greatly missed, but the work he provided will live on forever. He truly was the best man I ever knew and I take comfort with the knowledge that we will one day be reunited.
