CUMBERLAND, July 14 – Barbara Bolen Moorefield 74, widow of Walter Lee Moorefield, passed away at home in Cumberland on July 14, 2011.
She was born in Washington, DC, to James Albert Bolen and Martha Amos Bolen on November 9, 1936.
In 2007, Mrs. Moorefield retired as a pharmacy technician from CVS in Farmville.
She loved people and shared her culinary delights with family and friends; enjoying cake baking and decorating, sewing, crocheting, arts and crafts, family gatherings, country-bluegrass and gospel music. She was an avid nature lover and enjoyed wildlife and bird watching, and spending time at the beach. She will be missed by her pet dogs, “Artie” and “Sugar Bear” and her cat, “Hemi.”
Mrs. Moorefield is survived by three daughters, Martha Jane Moorefield of Cumberland, Windy M. Webb (Keith) of Gloucester and Penny M. Taylor (John) of Appomattox; a son, James Bolen “Bodie” Moorefield (Nancy) of Cumberland; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Wortley B. Ganoe of Wheaton, MD, and a special friend, Richard Harvey of Pamplin. She leaves behind many loving family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 6 p.m. at Tar Wallet Baptist Church, Cumberland. Family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 4-6 p.m. prior to the service.
