Lisa Kinzer and James Kidd will present a concert of piano duet music on Sunday, May 1, in memory of Frieda Myers. The concert will take place at Wygal Music Building at 4 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
Miss Myers taught in the Longwood University Music Department from 1967-1994, and enjoyed performing piano duet and duo music with Longwood Professor Emeritus, Paul Hesselink. She also played organ frequently at Farmville Presbyterian Church.
Frieda, an avid supporter of all the arts, was an enormous asset to the Farmville community. Her tireless work towards the establishment and success of the Longwood University Camber Music Series brought countless, talented artists from around the world to this area.
Kinzer and Kidd will perform works by J.C. Bach, Faure, Stravinsky, and Amy Beach. The Longwood chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota will host a reception in honor of Miss Myers in the Haga Room of Wygal immediately following the concert. Memorial gifts may be made to the Chamber Music Series Endowment Fund, Longwood University, 201 High Street, Farmville, VA 23901.
