A great deal of celebration has been going on recently in the area. Congratulations to all those celebrating. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond (Nancy) Dickerson were given a surprise 50th anniversary celebration by their children and their families on Sunday at Raymond and Nancy's church. Their anniversary was Jan. 28.

On Feb. 7 Nancy Dickerson celebrated her birthday. Mrs. Margie H. Agee was given a surprise 50th birthday party by her family recently. The celebration was held in the Fellowship Hall of College Presbyterian Church.

Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Bolt attended the opening and dedication ceremony of the Longwood University Nursing Department Edward I. Gordon, M.D., Clinical Simulation Learning Center, Feb. 1. Their daughter, Stacy Bolt, participated in the ribbon cutting ceremony, as she was voted as the student representative by her fellow nursing students.

Mr. and Mrs. Don (Betty) Meadows, Mr. and Mrs. George (Shirley) Moore, and Mr. and Mrs. Richard (Margaret) Stockton met at Merk's Place on Monday for breakfast and fellowship.

Saturday week Mr. and Mrs. Lindy (Wanda) Hamlett, Curtis Hamlett, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne (Lynn) East, Mr. and Mrs. Gary (Margie) Agee, Mr. and Mrs. James (Kelly) Redford, and Joshua; Mr. and Mrs. Phil (Donna) Bailey of Appomattox; Mr. and Mrs. Wade (Angie) Stimpson and children Trey and Lauren enjoyed a belated Christmas with Mrs. Sally Mottley. The fellowship was great as well as the food.

The Hamlett and Agee families attended the dedication service at Glenn Memorial Baptist Church on Sunday for Garrison Agee infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben (Shannon) Agee. This was a most joyful service.

Mrs. Flora Bolt visited with Mr. and Mrs. Steve (Terri) Bolt and Brandon on Sunday. They enjoyed lunch and the Hallmark Channel. Also visiting were Mrs. Nicky Murdock and daughters Haley and Payden, Jason Johnson, and Sgt. and Mrs. David (Ashley) Pacquette.

Peggy Kelsey was able to attend a pre-game reception given by the Hampden-Sydney Southside Club recently. Her guest was her granddaughter, Debra Sue Shumaker. This was Debra Sue's first time going and she is said to have had a great time.

Mr. and Mrs. Ray (Peggy) Kelsey along with their children attended the Hampden-Sydney basketball game last Saturday with Randolph College. Ray really enjoyed the game and having his family with him.

Mr. and Mrs. Don (Betty) Meadows visited dear friends, Frances Dresser and Pat Doff in Lynchburg on Tuesday. Following visiting friends they went shopping.

Family, friends and neighbors are sending special get well wishes to all those who are sick at this time. Special prayers are needed for Ralph Haga has a broken leg as a result of a fall, Jacob Justus, Peggy Kelsey, Nancy and Raymond Dickerson, Ray Kelsey, Hilda Friend, Lee Coleman, and Bobbie Leatherwood.

Neighbors and friends are expressing their sincere sympathy to the family of Allen H. “Bo” Fowler.

Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle invites everyone to Sunday School at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. The Rev. Chuck Klotzberger will fill the pulpit this Sunday.

The membership of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect invites you to come and worship with them every Sunday; Sunday School is at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m.

Calvary Chapel-Farmville invites you to worship with them on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. Calvary Chapel-Farmville is located at 45 Simpson Road in Prospect. two miles west of Dowdy's Corner just off of US 460.
