Mary Davis Maxey

SCOTTSVILLE, Feb. 10 – Mary Davis Maxey, 69, of Scottsville, died Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was born August 7, 1941 in Buckingham County, a daughter of the late Charles Lewis and Mary Nicholas (Irving) Davis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Acey Woodrow Taylor Sr., son, Acey Woodrow Taylor Jr; and grandson, John F. Williams.

Mrs. Maxey was a homemaker who raised sixteen children, who consider her their best friend.

Survivors include three daughters, Mary Beth Williams, Anna Taylor Gunter and Edna T. Baldwin, all of Dillwyn; son, Charles R. Taylor of Wingina; three adopted children, Matthew J. Maxey of Scottsville, Mark J. Maxey of Esmont, and Connie L. Maxey of Lovingston; two stepchildren, Mary A. Maxey of Waynesboro and Lola M. Bennett of Scottsville; brother, Charles Lewis Davis Jr. of New Canton; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two nieces, Carol Snoddy of Arvonia and Jean Ann Smith of Scottsville; nephew, Buster Catlett of Arvonia; and a special friend, Alice Taylor of Keene.

A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 13, at Thacker Brothers Scottsville Funeral Home.

There will be no viewing.
